90′s Revival! Raisin Agenda

Obscuring your view

Chanel Obscure Rouge Allure

For my birthday in November of last year, I found this lipstick on Nordstoms.com. Yes, Chanel’s Obscure Rouge Allure  from the  Fall 2009 Noirs Obsurs collection was available for purchase, so I had to snap it up.

While many describe Obscure to be a doppelganger for the now discontinued Vamp Hydrabase lipstick, I believe this is in fact false. I would describe Obscure as a raisin. A deep burnt red sans blue pigments.

The color also reminds me of the R&B women of the 90′s. Remember the videos of Mary J. Blige , Total and SWV where they all wore shades and deep burgundy and raisin lipstick tones.

90′s throwback here we come! Next up matte loose powder.

Excuse the flash..better yet- embrace it!

Ever since I ‘ve had this liquid lipcolor, I’ve been trying to photograph it in a good neutralizing light. Natural light has escaped me so being curious me I photographed with flash and got this milky lavender spectacle that I love.

Comic Book + Beauty Inspiration: Rebecca and Enid of Ghostworld

Living in a small town can either make you uber comfortable or keep you on the fritz. Rebecca and Enid are experiencing the latter. Ghostworld is written and illustrated by Daniel Clowes and the comic delves into the lives of two american teens in a small town. The Comic gave way to a movie in 2001 of the same name and starred Scarlett Johannsson as Rebecca and Thora Burch as Enid.  All I have to say is – Rent it!

Rebecca is a blossoming young woman who is interested in boys, etc and is starting to appreciate the finer things in life- something tells me Smith’s Rosebud Salvve light scent can works its way through her life. Where as Enid is down to have fun and mischief- judging by her greenish tinted lips- MAC Spanish Fly is probably her lippie of choice.

Comic Book + Beauty Inspiration: Liz Sherman of Hellboy

Liz Sherman is the original firestarter and lady love of Hellboy- despite in the films being portrayed by Icy -staired Selma Blair.

Anywho, the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense know that they have a great sluther on their hands who know how to get the fire started and defuse flaired tempers ( talkin’to you HellBoy) all while looking cool. NARS Machu Picchu is probably Liz’s go to product after flair-ups to ensure her sparkle goes a long way.

Comic Book+ Beauty Inspiration: Aeon Flux

Aeon Flux

I can’t help to think -eyelashes when I think about Aeon Flux. But I do!  Aeon Flux conjures up Avant Garde is a stange alter futuristic reality. While I was too young to follow the show closely ( and frankly to scared of some of the characters in the show). I just know that their clothing seemed like the only freedom the nation of Monica had.

But I digress, a futuristic comicbook/tv show character needs futuristic makeup and Givenchy Phenomen’eyes is just it.

Comic Book+ Beauty Inspiration: Tank Girl

Tank Girl

When Water &Power  corporation is monopolizing all the water supply in 2033. Tank Girl ( and Jet Girl) spring to action on adventure to stop them. Though it would be easy if TG kept her charasmatic trap shut right? I bet she’s a big fan of anything Army green from Urban Decay!

In 1995 Tank Girl the comic book was adapted into a film with Lori Petty ( the part fits her so well) and Naomi Watts along with Michael McDowell and Ice-T as a Kangaroo- human hybrid.

p.s. the soundtrack to the movie is pretty kickin’

Oh the future.

Comic Book + Beauty Inspiration: Ramona Flowers

She has a past that makes guys not want to get involved- expect for one Scott Pilgram. Ramona V. Flowers wields a mallet, fights of 17 year-old groupies and dyes her hair every 3 weeks.

I’m sure she goes through Manic Panic bottles like no bodies business.

Can’t wait for Scott Pilgram vs. the world!
