For my birthday in November of last year, I found this lipstick on Nordstoms.com. Yes, Chanel’s Obscure Rouge Allure  from the  Fall 2009 Noirs Obsurs collection was available for purchase, so I had to snap it up.

While many describe Obscure to be a doppelganger for the now discontinued Vamp Hydrabase lipstick, I believe this is in fact false. I would describe Obscure as a raisin. A deep burnt red sans blue pigments.

The color also reminds me of the R&B women of the 90′s. Remember the videos of Mary J. Blige , Total and SWV where they all wore shades and deep burgundy and raisin lipstick tones.

90′s throwback here we come! Next up matte loose powder.

Ever since I ‘ve had this liquid lipcolor, I’ve been trying to photograph it in a good neutralizing light. Natural light has escaped me so being curious me I photographed with flash and got this milky lavender spectacle that I love.

Living in a small town can either make you uber comfortable or keep you on the fritz. Rebecca and Enid are experiencing the latter. Ghostworld is written and illustrated by Daniel Clowes and the comic delves into the lives of two american teens in a small town. The Comic gave way to a movie in 2001 of the same name and starred Scarlett Johannsson as Rebecca and Thora Burch as Enid.  All I have to say is – Rent it!

Rebecca is a blossoming young woman who is interested in boys, etc and is starting to appreciate the finer things in life- something tells me Smith’s Rosebud Salvve light scent can works its way through her life. Where as Enid is down to have fun and mischief- judging by her greenish tinted lips- MAC Spanish Fly is probably her lippie of choice.

Who is the one of the best rockers in Riverdale? Why it’s Val Brown!

Best played by Rosario Dawson in the live action version of the movie as a bassists, although in the cartoon she shook the tamberine better than Eve ( Sorry Eve, but true).

When Josie is all up in her own world or hanging out with Alan, who saves the day? Val does!

I’d like to think that NARS Revolt complements her so well!

When Betty Cooper isn’t fighting with Veronica Lodge over Archie’s attention, she is putting her smarts to good use, who needs some dude who can’t make up his mind anyway? Amiright?

While Veronica is the earlier half of the aughties, lux, decadent, spinning rims.. Betty was the girl who was concerned about the future- whether it be animal , civil or human rights.

I bet she had a Korres lipgloss while lounging in the grassy knoll, dreaming up solutions for peace.

Eclipse...Better than Twilight

Eclipse is the deepest shade in the Chanel Glossimer Family.

The deep plummy hue is sprinkled with silver flecks  that keeps you in the spotlight- but not shiny like a disco ball.

Released in Chanel’s Galaxy collection in 2007, this covented color- like all things Chanel Beauty, is no longer available to due such high demand.

Kathryn Finney- The Budget Fashionista

I had the pleasure of meeting Kathryn at an event at the Soho Grand here in NYC! After the Ladies Lotto Panel, I had to introduce myself  and inquire about her lipstick hue.

She is the Queen of budget friendly chic! back when everyone was going nutzo over the Dior Saddle Bag and Juicy Track suits, in 2003 she was one of the first official bloggers and she started sharing her cost-friendly shopping tricks on Thebudgetfashionista.com.

Kathryn delightfully indulged in her lipstick color- its  MAC’s Cyber, described as an ” intense blackish purple”. She also tipped us off and let us know that Black Radiance has a similar lipstick hue.

YSL ‘s Holiday 2009 collection adds an extra special umph to the smatterings of deep berry lips and lined eyes this season. The new Golden Gloss has a new colors- Golden Lavender and Golden Cherry!

Just when you think its safe to turn in your seasonal brights and hibernate with dark tones comes some playful colors that say ” spring countdown!” smack dab in the middle of winter.
