Over the Thanksgiving Holiday, I gave thanks and went out west to my origins on the West Coast- California.
As luck (and a good friend) would have it, we stumbled upon a bombardment of violet entities while in San Diego and Pacific Beach (or known to locals as “PB” ) is a purple spectacle all on its own- and not in a Barney kinda way.
While lunching, we came up on the Purple Cafe on Grand Ave. Decked out with lavender walls ( and the scent- to add a special touch). It instantly took me away from my fond memories of PB Bar and Grill and, Moondoggies and Typhoon Saloon in the evening. This was the gem that instantly relaxed, drew you in and melted the stress.
My favorite takeaway from the Purple Cafe? The Jimi Hendrix, violet framed piece behind the barista.

On a dewy, wet weekend, we packed up and headed to upstate NY, New Paltz to be exact. The quiet adventure was much needed as the entire summer was spent in the city. Along with the ride, I couldn’t help but reconnect with nature, just sitting, listening and observing- the pale- purple valley mist; the small, simple thistle colored flower, the decorative sequined Grapes and vintage candy boxes in Lavender, Violet at the a vintage store and the lovely woman’s lavender tips at the store we stopped in upon arrival.
